Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday joined the sangat to pray for the progress of the state and the prosperity of Punjabis.

Both leaders took part in the Ardas performed after the Bhog of Sri Akhand Path Sahib held in commemoration of the 350th martyrdom day of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and the legendary Sikh martyrs, Bhai Mati Das Ji, Bhai Sati Dass Ji, and Bhai Dayala Ji, at Gurdwara Baba Budha Dal Chauni.

The leaders said it was a matter of great honour for them to have the opportunity to serve during the events marking the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.

On the occasion, the chief minister and the AAP national convener said Sikhism embodies the true model of socialism and secularism for the world. Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji stands as a lighthouse of universal brotherhood, secularism, and social equality for all humanity.

Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Singh Mann added that Punjabis in general, and Sikhs in particular, have inherited a glorious legacy of sacrifice and valour from the great Sikh Gurus, who taught them to stand firmly against tyranny, oppression and injustice.

The chief minister and the AAP chief further said that it is the bounden duty of the state government to preserve Punjab’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage for future generations. They emphasized that millions of people across the globe wish that the 350th martyrdom day of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji be commemorated on a scale befitting the unparalleled grandeur of the Guru’s supreme sacrifice.

They added that, in keeping with the expectations of devotees worldwide, the state government has made humble but earnest efforts to ensure that the commemorative events become memorable moments of a lifetime. They said the government and the people of Punjab consider themselves deeply fortunate to be part of this sacred and historic occasion.
